All about IGNOU Assignments!
" After reading the entire post, start writing your IGNOU assignments as soon as possible and don't wait for last months or days"
Importance of Assignments: You are required to score at least 40% marks in each assignment as well as Term End Examination (TEE) separately. If you don’t submit the assignment of a course within the above specified time limit, you won’t be allowed to give the TEE for that course. If you appear in the TEE without submitting the assignments, the result of TEE would be liable to be cancelled.
Weightage of Assignments: Assignments of a course carry 30% weightage while 70% weightage is given to the Term End Examination. You can refer to "How to Calculate Final Marks in IGNOU" for more details.
- From where can I obtain the latest assignment question paper?
You can also visit IGNOU Regional Centre or the allotted Student Centre for the same.
- Which type of paper should I use for the assignments?
- Should I write the assignments on the single side of a paper or on both sides or should I use a notebook instead?
- What kind of pen should be used?
- How many colours of the pen should I use?
- Should I make a margin or start writing like a maniac?
- Should I staple or spiral bind the assignment pages?
- Can I print or type the assignments as it is easy to Copy-Paste the answers from the internet?
- How to start your IGNOU Assignments-
2. Page 2: Second Page should be the Assignment Question Paper. Tick the questions which you will be attempting in the assignment.
3. Page 3: Start with the answers. Don’t write the questions as you have already attached the Assignment Question Paper on the previous page.
4. Try to write at least 5-6 pages/question for a 500-word limit answer, especially if it is an arts subject.

4. Try to write at least 5-6 pages/question for a 500-word limit answer, especially if it is an arts subject.
5. You should write each assignment separately. All the assignments should not be written in continuity in a single notebook or shouldn’t be bind or stapled together.
6. You should write the question number with each answer.
7. You should not copy from the response sheets of your friends. If copying is noticed, assignments of you and your friend can be rejected, and disciplinary action can be taken against both of you as per the rules of the University. Although, nothing of such sort happens practically.
8. The completed assignment should be sent only by registered/speed post or submitted in person to the Coordinator of the Study Centre allotted to the student. The latter is the most preferred way. The assignment should not be sent to the Regional Centre.
9. After submitting the assignment at the Study Centre in person, the students should get the acknowledgment receipt from the Coordinator. You will have to keep this receipt safe for getting back your evaluated assignments. Also, this receipt will help you prove that you actually submitted those assignments.
10. Don't wait until the deadline. Submit your assignments well before 3-4 days or be ready to face chaos on the last day. ( For G.O.T fans- Here, Chaos isn't a ladder )

- Should I keep a photocopy of the Assignment?
- Will IGNOU extend the Assignment submission deadline like it extends admission dates?
- Can I apply for the Re-evaluation of IGNOU assignments?
Hope that helps!

You have to submit the assignment in the next cycle. IGNOU is sometimes late in delivering the study material specially in semester courses or 6 month Certification courses.
Last Date for submission: -
30th September, 2018 for December-2018 Term End Exam.
31st March, 2019 for June 2019 Term End Exam.
One more question, I stay in Mangalore and the regional center is Bangalore, should I print the IGNOU student ID and get it signed from Bangalore center?
Thanks
Jaya

I had received my study materials lately, but the date for the submission of assignments already came to an end. It means that am I only eligible to attend TEE in the next cycle? And also will my marks get reduce if I submit for the next cycle?
@ Tanmoy- you can use black ink as well. I used blue and black combo.
I am a MA Psy Student and I have written best to my knowledge. That means its not technically from IGNOU as Ignou study material doesnt have much content plus wrong and old theories too. I have cited and quoted authors and ref, but it exceeded my word limit.
I need to know, Such assignments are marked according to knowledge or purely the Ignou Study Material content is require?
Am preparing for Mphil Clinical Psy Entrance, I need 55% cut off anyhow.
Guide Please.
Thanks in Advance
Due to COVID-19 crisis, this time the hand-written assignments are getting submitted in the soft copy in .pdf format. Respective Regional centres have provided email ID's for the same. Keep the hard copy safely and submit only if IGNOU give such instructions.

1- The assignments are available on IGNOU wesbite. Go to this link- https://webservices.ignou.ac.in/assignments/SCHOOLS/SOEDS/PGDUPDL/2020-21/PGDUPDL%20Assignments%20(2020%20July%20and%202021%20January%20Sessions).pdf
2- Yes, you can use plain A4 sheets.
3- Try to avoid bookish language as far as possible.
All the best!
Next qs is 3yrs me ek course ko pass karne ka moka rhta iska kya matlb hua? Mtlb mai assignment next avi sept end ne submit ni kiye to direct next yeqr dena hoga?
1- Last date of assignment for Jan, 2020 is currently 30.09.2020. This will most probably increase by atleast one month. Make the assignments and get it over with. You can do it. No marks are deducted.
2- For a PG diploma course, minimum time required to complete the course is 1 year and max time is 3 years. This means if due to certain reasons, one can't complete the course in 1 year, IGNOU gives flexibility to complete the same in a span of 3 years.
They might say, yes, you can extend because the maximum time to complete the diploma course is 3 years. But here in our case (for people who have enrolled in Dec 2020 for 2021 batch) the disadvantage is in the records it might come that we couldn't complete in 1 year and HENCE the student is not eligible for GOLD medal. Please assist me on how to resolve this.
Also the PGDESD course has 32 credits and out of that audio and video programmes are considered too to earn credits. But audio and video programmes are not available yet for PGDESD. Does credits related to audio and video programmes are considered for eligibility of Gold medal ??
I taken admission for BTS in jul 2020 cycle . Now which assignments to submit to appear June 2021 TEE. Thank you
I am student of PGDUPDL jan 2020 session. For some reasons i was unable to complete the assignments by the known last date which was jan 2021. I have completed the assignments now. So can i submit it now or will it not be considered m afraid. Plz tell me. 2nd doubt i have is through words of mouth i got to know that i will have to make assignment which is released for jan 2021 session. Mtlb hmko apna session ka Chor k dusre next session ka assignment bnana hoga. Bohot confusion horha hai sir. Bnaya hua assignment ab submit nahi krrhe rejection k dar se.
Plz help me sir.
Once you have taken admission in a particular session, that session can't be changed. Please check the session in which you have taken the admission (and not the month in which you paid the fees, as the deadlines to take admission were extended).
Dear Shivam,
As the Dec, 2020 TEE has already started, I don't think you will be allowed to submit the assignments now. You can try & request your study centre officials.
Also, let me clarify that if you have not submitted the assignment of previous session (Jan-2020) and if the new assignments are uploaded on IGNOU website, you have to submit the new assignment & the old assignments will not be valid.
The last date for submission of assignments for June, 2021 TEE has been extended upto 31.05.2021.
Doable!
Ignou website says to write assignment in ruled papers instead of blank papers. Below is link for reference. Also, they have instructed to write question before answering it.
