The gold medalists in IGNOU are identified based on the recommendations of a Committee constituted by the Competent Authority for the purpose. IGNOU University Gold Medal  is given to the respective course topper(s) who fulfills all of the following criteria :- (1) The students should have completed the programme within minimum duration.  For Eg: The minimum duration to complete M.A. Programme is 2 years. (2) The student should have secured highest aggregate marks in the programme. (3) The student should not have repeated any of the courses in the programme. (4) The student should not have been booked under un-fair means during the course of study. (5) The student should have secured first division in the programme. (6) There should be a minimum of 10 qualified and eligible students in the programme. (7) Any other terms and conditions prescribed by the Committee from time to time.
